Meet Northants Accounting
Northants Accounting is a sum of its individual parts; the team. Getting to know our clients personally is as important to us as understanding their finances so, meet the people behind the service and success…
Nishi started Northants Accounting in 2014 after a successful career in corporate finance with Faccenda & Homebase as a Management Accountant and Financial Analyst. He has been a Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA) since 2007.
Professionally, Nishi is known for the high standard of tax planning that he provides to his clients and the ability to communicate effectively. He has a knack for identifying what the real issues are and creating actions to deal with them. Listening skills are key to this ability and he often helps clients to prioritise their financial well-being thus leading to peace of mind and less stress all round.
Nishi loves building productive relationships that stand the test of time and let him focus on his Family. That’s why he’s put a business model in place that looks after his customers but also gives him real flexibility in the way he lives his life. He is excited by the people he meets and incredibly passionate about helping people fix their problems as well as building a solid, reliable reputation.
He can’t stop talking about Futrli forecasting and Xero accounting software packages, these are central to the system he has built to help business owners understand their finances and take control.
He and his wife Deepa have a beautiful daughter called Arya, a fairly recent addition to the family and the absolute apple of his eye. Nishi would like to be remembered as someone who always kept to their word and did everything to the best of his ability, and we think he’s well on track to achieve that.

Ariel Cooper, AAT Level 2: Assistant Accountant
Day-to-day, Ariel is responsible for looking after Xero (the accounting software that Northants Accounting use), VAT returns, and payroll in the business and has been doing so since January 2018. Since joining the practice, Ariel has qualified to AAT level 2 and continues to study. This all makes her very well placed to help clients out when they have an issue or difficulties with Xero. Northants Accounting clients tell us that Ariel is a good teacher and that she helps to make sure they understand what it is they need to know.
Ariel truly enjoys getting to know our clients and building relationships with them. She feels it’s important to be able to make a connection because it makes the overall working experience better knowing that we are all human and would want to be remembered for being patient, open-minded, and friendly; qualities that she feels are seriously lacking in today’s fast-paced world.
Personally, Ariel is most passionate about art, she loves to paint, draw and craft, basically anything creative! She feels it’s inspiring to work for a small business because she gets to watch not just the business grow and develop, but also herself along with it. She loves relaxing in sun with a glass of wine and can’t stop talking about the Marvel films.
Ariel was actually named after The Little Mermaid, loves Dad jokes, and really wants to learn how to sail.

In the past, Sunil has worked for a Mercedes dealership and for a commercial building maintenance company and is most passionate about due diligence, client satisfaction and accuracy. Cheryl Mehrtens: AAT Level 4: Bookkeeper
Cheryl was working on a voluntary basis for a client that needed a new accountant, he knew Nishi and that’s where it all began. Cheryl started working a few hours a week as Northants Accounting business grew.
Professionally, Cheryl is known for bookkeeping and getting the work done with a smile; she has been bookkeeping now for more than 19 years and is qualified to MAAT, ICB 2 level. She has a knack for organisation and is best placed to help clients get up to date and then setting processes to help them stay up to date. She says that the most exciting thing about working for Northants Accounting is Nishi’s passion for success, both for Northants Accounting AND our clients; his energy encourages us all to do better.
Personally, Cheryl is most passionate her beautiful two girls and her wonderful fiancé who she plans to marry in their ‘40th birthday year’ (not for another 19 years then eh, Cheryl!). She loves cuddles, long walks and movie afternoons with her girls and tells us the one thing she’d find impossible to give up is cake!
Cheryl would like to be remembered as an amazing mum, a lovely lady to be around, someone who always listened and made you feel better; job done as far as we are concerned!
Alison previously worked with Nishi’s Sister-in-Law in a pharmacy and she recommended Alison for the job. Alison is very much a people person and loves to help clients with any problems they present, in her words “it’s what she is here for”, that, and giving an excellent service.
Personally, Alison is most passionate about her family and music, not necessarily in that order and she loves learning new things. She spent four months in Australia in her early twenties and loves a good movie and a good old-fashioned roast dinner on a Sunday. Alison is Mum to three lovely children, two daughters and a son and has been married for over fifteen years (we don’t think she looks old enough!).
Alison is a local girl, having grown up in Northampton and tells us that the one thing that would be impossible for her to give up is salt & vinegar crisps.
